Upper Cervical Care

How It WorksWhy It's Needed

WHAT IS UPPER CERVICAL (UC) CHIROPRACTIC CARE?

Chiropractic care focuses on restoring health based on the philosophy that the brain and nervous system control and coordinate the function of all cells, organs and organ systems in the body. However, upper cervical (UC) chiropractic in particular takes chiropractic care to a more technical level. UC is considered an updated philosophy (compared to traditional chiropractic) because it relies on technology to objectively determine actual disruption in the nervous system function.

UC is a highly specialized practice of locating and correcting nerve interference in the upper spine. With an extremely accurate diagnosis, the UC chiropractor can specifically correct one area of the spine, allowing the rest of the spine to reset itself, becoming healthy and stable again.

Special Populations

Women: Your body experiences many changes during your lifetime: puberty, pregnancy, childbirth, and menopause. Your body is able to better adapt to these changes when your nervous system is free of any interference and your brain is able to communicate with your body. Many of the women at ALIVE Wellness Center find their way here after spending a decade or two putting their kids and career first. As they’ve gotten older they’ve found their body doesn’t bounce back as it used to, or that smaller things can throw them off their normal routine. As they head towards menopause, the ladies of ALIVE Wellness Center are able to find care and support during this time of change in their bodies.

Teenagers: As teens start to sit at a desk and computer longer hours – with reading, homework and video games we’ve started to see their posture begin to shift in the whole body. These neck and shoulder changes put pressure on the brain stem causing many teens the beginning of neck pain, headaches, and even migraines at an early age. For young ladies, the onset of puberty mixed with this altered posture may also mess with their cycles and how their body feels at different times of the month.
